Department Award - Faculty Service Description
This award is given to a faculty member who acts as an exemplary model for service to the department, university, and/or community. The award is for selfless acts of helping others and contributing to work that is not one’s own.
Department Award - Excellence in Research Description
This award recognizes outstanding research done within the department. The recipient is chosen on the basis of the accolades and/or outside recognition given to their work.
Department Award - Contributions to Graduate Education and Research Description
This award is given to a faculty member who has demonstrated continual support of the Graduate program. The award recognizes significant contributions to either the education or research of postgraduates.
Department Award - Certificate of Appreciation Description
The Department of Computer Science gives out a Certificate of Appreciation to individuals who may not be directly affiliated with the Department, but nevertheless exemplify helpful service to our needs and goals.
Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in [Faculty Service, Scholarship and Creative Activities, Teaching] Description
The Chancellor's Awards for Excellence are SUNY-wide honors that acknowledge and provide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. Apple Personal Computer Competition Description
In 1988, Apple held a paper-writing competition in which participants predicted what personal computers would be like in the year 2000. This award recognizes exceptional submissions, which were judged by the likes of Steve Wozniak, Alan Kay and Ray Bradbury.
ALP President’s Award Description
This award recognizes outstanding service to the Association for Logic Programming. To date, it has only been awarded to the Association's first President, Dave Warren, who served from 1996-2000.
Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow Description
The Sloan Research Fellowships seek to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise. These two-year fellowships are awarded yearly to just over 100 researchers in recognition of distinguished performance and a unique potential.
