Honored with SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching

The Department of Computer Science is thrilled to announce that Prof. Tony Scarlatos is the recipient of the esteemed SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2023–2024. The award recognizes Scarlatos' exceptional contribution to Stony Brook University's academic programs and his dedication to thousands of students. 

Since 1995, Scarlatos has been leading the department's multimedia lab and teaching courses such as CSE/ISE 339 Benevolent Computing. Scarlatos' research interests include digital media, computer-human interaction, and educational applications of multimedia.

"It has been a privilege working with all the innovative students in the computer science department for all these years," says Scarlatos. 

 Tony is also the recipient of a Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences; the Provost’s Outstanding Lecturer Award; and a Stony Brook Spirit Award.
