Biography

Dr. Fusheng Wang received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles, and M.S. and B.S. in Engineering Physics from Tsinghua University, China. Prior to joining Stony Brook University, he was an assistant professor at Emory University. He was a research scientist at Siemens Corporate Research (Princeton, NJ) before joining Emory University.

Research

Dr. Fusheng Wang’s research lies at the intersection of data management, spatial computing, and biomedical informatics. He develops high performance and scalable systems for managing, querying, and analyzing complex, high-dimensional data, supporting a wide range of applications including GIS, medical imaging and human atlas construction.  His work also spans AI-driven healthcare analytics, population and public health, and assistive technologies. He integrates electronic health records, clinical text, medical images, and geospatial and environmental data to advance disease risk prediction, treatment response modeling, opioid epidemic research, and health disparity analysis. His research has been continuously supported by NIH, NSF, DoD, PCORI, CDC, and industry partners.
